Associate Artistic Director/Education Director- Los Altos Stage Company

  • Curate a season comprising approximately ten youth camps, three full-length youth productions

  • five main-stage shows, with input from the programming committee and Board of Directors.

  • Ensure high-quality programming that aligns with the spirit of the theatre’s mission.

  • Work with the programming committee to choose a program schedule that will allow the theatre to achieve revenue and artistic goals.

  • Develop and implement curriculum for youth classes.

  • Direct and coordinate production of youth and main-stage shows.

  • Meet or exceed established program goals to include increased participation and retention of students in the youth programs.

  • Supervise and support guest directors to ensure all programs meet artistic and budget goals.

  • With the executive committee, develop relationships with local arts organizations and seek opportunities for collaboration and rentals.

  • Hire and effectively manage production teams for each show, including contract labor and production volunteers. 

  • Hire and supervise Education Department Personnel, including part-time teaching artists; issue faculty work assignments and submit faculty payroll.

  • Observe teaching artists in class and provide feedback.

  • Develop an annual budget for Education Programs; Supervise monthly budgetary tracking and reporting, including current financial results and budget performance forecasting.

  • Oversee development of all educational curriculum at LAYT.

  • Set and implement Drama School curriculum and policies in collaboration with Drama School faculty and staff; Determine what classes the Drama School offers, and in collaboration with Teaching Artists develop guidelines for Creative Drama and Core Acting classes.

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative needs of the program, including talking to parents to assist with class selection, covering first day/last day assignments; Resolve and troubleshoot student, parent, and teacher problems or complaints.

  • Assist with Education Programs marketing needs; writing class description copy for Drama School catalogs and other marketing materials.

  • Oversee the summer and school year internship selection process, training, and weekly meetings.

  • Assist and facilitate new program partnerships for Education Outreach, assist with outreach events, co-host educator preview evening, facilitate Teacher Advisory Committee.

  • Represent LAYT Education Programs at public and private events and meetings, and act as an advocate for Drama School and Education goals, as articulated in LAYT’s mission statement.
