Welcome to "The Joy of Creating: Life, Art, and Spindrift"
Hi friends and family!
I’m beyond excited to share this new space with you. I’m now two years into my dream job at Spindrift School of Performing Arts, after a whirlwind few years of change—leaving Mercy High School, Los Altos Stage Company, and Skyline College, and of course, navigating the pandemic. Through it all, I’ve realized it’s time to put myself first, which has never been easy for me (classic Cancer energy, right?). But here I am, pushing myself to share my thoughts and journey in a way that feels real and authentic. We’ll see how that goes! 😊
After stepping away from META, I felt a sense of lightness I hadn’t expected. Social media started to feel like a space where perfection was the expectation, and that’s just not me. I missed the days of sharing rehearsal videos, in-progress works, and the beautiful chaos that is life in the performing arts. But the algorithm, the pressure to curate, it just drained the joy out of it.
This blog is my way of staying connected in a way that feels true to who I am. I was a little nervous about announcing my departure from social media, afraid people would think I was either whining or doing it for attention. But if you know me, you know I do what I want, regardless of others' opinions. I’m here to share the messy, beautiful process of what I do—teaching, performing, and running Spindrift with so much love.
I’ll admit, I’ve hesitated to embrace the fact that I’m still wildly dancing and performing in my 50s, but why hold back? I’m proud of what we’ve built at Spindrift and the amazing achievements we’ve accomplished together. We’re helping shape the next generation of performers and making waves in local theater.
This blog will be a place for creativity, joy, and community. I’ll share behind-the-scenes moments from Spindrift, personal reflections, and maybe some fun life updates—all without the noise of ads, politics, or negativity. Just pure passion and love for the arts.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. I can’t wait to share what’s next as we continue to build something beautiful together!
Stay tuned and keep creating!
